With the holiday season just around the corner, you may be decorating your house and want to decorate your oak bookcases, without damaging them. There are a couple of ways you can do this, without much though of how to decorate your oak bookcases, and more focus on preventing damage.
The first way is to remove all the items on your oak bookcases, and replace them with decorations. Only place decorations which can stand by themselves, and won’t fall over. Under every decoration, especially if it is heavy and could potentially damage your oak bookcases, you should place a doily under them, which will prevent any direct contact to the wood and any possible damage from occurring.
If you would like to decorate your oak bookcases with lights, you can either lay them on the shelves, or you can line the entire front, outside edge of your bookcases, using clear tape. Make sure it is tape which will hold the lights, but easily peal off, entirely. You don’t want to have clear tape, which leaves the glue on your oak bookcases, as the glue will fill in the grain of the wood, get clogged with dirt and dust, and damage your oak bookcases.
Now that you know how you can easily decorate you oak bookcases, without damaging them, you should be able to enjoy holiday decorations on your bookcases, instead of seeing the same, plain bookcase, through the holiday season.
